Biography

Scott Colley (b. Nov. 24, 1963, Los Angeles) is an American jazz bassist. Colley studied jazz and classical composition at the California Institute for the Arts, graduating in 1988. He then moved to New York, playing first with Carmen McRae and undertook a tours of the USA and Europe with musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie, Clifford Jordan, Roy Hargrove and Art Farmer. Since then he has become a noted sideman, playing with Jim Hall, Andrew Hill, Joe Henderson, John Scofield, Renee Rosnes, Brian Blade, Chris Potter, Ben Perowsky, Tim Ries, Rick Margitza, Franck Amsallem, Billy Hart, Mike Stern, and Phil Woods.
