From the Crystal Planet World Premiere CD: "Well I kinda had, it was like daydreaming ... about different things ... that have happened in the world and I had a lot of experience listening to native American music over the last couple of years, and I think this song was a response to getting into a lot of that music, and thinking about some sort of midnight ceremony celebration of spirit, or something like that y'know." From the Anthology CD: CEREMONY: Growing up in New York, my mother made my siblings and me aware of the history of the Native American culture, not only in the USA, but also right in our very backyard. Since that education I've always felt very close to the people who originally created their home here. What made recording this song so special to me was having producer Mike Fraser's friend, Elk Thunder, come to the studio to add some traditional Native American percussion to the track. Mike brought so much to this song by helping me translate abstract memories and feelings about the subject and turn them into production ideas that brought the whole thing together.
