Notes
To me, this was a new way to write a play a melody with harmony, and it has a rhythm that is both exotic and baroque. We had a great time creating the vibe on this one, once again using the Cyclosonic to process some unusual atmospheric sound samples. Jeff’s signature double kick solo intro is classic Campitelli. The arrangement was unique as well: spacey, then melodic, then rockin’, back to melodic, ending with spacey. As we had no recording console automation, we had to mix this one, as well as all the songs, in sections. John and I, with both hands on the console ready to flip specific switches, raise, or lower faders, would do four, eight, sixteen, or thirty-two bars at a time. Then, cut and splice it all together. Razor blades and sticky tape: destructive editing was thrilling back then!
