From the Anthology: COOL #9: I was thinking at Maynard Ferguson and his trumpet when writing this one. I was looking for a dark slinky groove to blend a little Hendrix, James Brown and Maynard all together. Thanks to a device called a Whammy pedal, I was able to reach those high notes with a little extra tweak from my picking hand. When I got to the chorus I guess a little Andy Summers influence crept in, so I wrote it as a set of chords with no single note line. In the studio, producer Glyn Johns had us assemble and play in a semi circle to capture a real live feeling. Playing with that band was an amazing experience. They brought out a new dimension in my playing.
