Notes
After reading a book by Kahlil Gibran I was inspired to write this “soundtrack” to the story of Christ’s crucifixion on the Hill of the Skull. I often wondered why, at the time, no musicians wrote music to this historic event. Composed on manuscript paper first, I tried to come up with a new way to sustain the melodic tension using restraint. I purposely refrained from harmonizing the melody. This brought an added element of loneliness to the music. It’s all crying unisons and octaves set against a deadly, creeping bass line. We recorded this one loud!
