Notes

This song started out as a piece of music written in the Baroque style, on manuscript, as an experiment to once again get me out of my usual way of composing. I wanted to write something using the newly popularized two-handed tapping technique, but didn’t want it to sound like what everyone else was doing. So, I figured I would compose on paper first, just melody and harmony, then figure out how to arrange it for two-handed tapped electric guitar second. It was a cool musical journey and worth the effort, for the end result was a different take on the whole two-handed thing. It elevated my playing as well. When we were recording the piece I asked engineer John Cuniberti and percussionist Bongo Bob Smith to help me create a soundtrack-like texture that would evoke visions of a secret ceremony, taking place at midnight, in the thick of a beautiful European forest. This transparent and delicate recording provided an interesting balance to the sound of the album. It also delivers the record’s final track on a silver platter.
