From the Anthology: SUMMER SONG: David Counter, a friend and Relativity Records employee, gave me an idea one day. He said it would be great if I could capture the feeling of the beginning of summer in an instrumental. We had a long talk about all the things that summer meant to us now and as kids growing up, and it convinced me that he had a great idea there. So I wrote the word "summer" down on a piece of paper one day, picked up my guitar and started to riff on that word. What my fingers played sounded like pure fun, good times, the feeling of freedom, power and invincibility, driving with the top down, etc ... It's still a rush to play.
